Alive Radio

Alive's history
Joining the Alive team

Alive Christian Radio was formed in 2004 as a result of two people who shared a dream. Local Christian worker, David Currie and Church pastor, Mark Smith had a coffee together and began to share with each other their dream of having a Christian radio station which would be widely accessible on FM in the Dumfries area.

They invited interested people to get together and after a lot of hard work and occasional tears, Alive was launched. The first broadcast period used a 28 day Restricted Service Licence during July and August 04, on 87.7FM and online through aliveradio.net. Over 50 people were invloved in the project, mainly as presenters. In 2005 we ran the project again with even greater levels of success, and encouraged by this we decided to run once again in 2006.

On 11th May 2007, we were approved for a Community Radio Licence by Ofcom, with the intention to begin broadcasting towards the end of 2008

There are lots of opportunities to get involved, check out our informative factsheet for more information. To enquire about planning and development meetings contact Mark Smith
